Sunday the 27th saw the first match of the 2025-26 season and we had 22 anglers competing which is a great turnout.
The fishing was hard with quite a few dry nets and low weights all round although the sun was shining and it was great to see everyone and get the season kicked off. It was good to see Grayson from the junior members section getting involved, unfortunately he didn’t catch but he’s in good company there! Juniors are welcome to fish the matches but please remember under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
This year, we’re paying 2 sections as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Results:
1st – £100 John Eldred with 23lb 3oz of mainly carp with a few silvers. The Chairman picks up where he left off last season with another win!
2nd – £60 Geo (guest) with 20lb 6oz of carp
3rd – £30 Costi Salavastru very close behind with with 20lb 5oz of carp
Non-members section – £10 Michael Carter
Members section – £10 Mitchel Glover
I made a couple of mistakes on Sunday, 1 with the draw and also the payouts! Bear with me while I find my feet! If anyone know’s Geo, can you send me his details or ask him to get in touch, I owe him £30! and Michael Carter I owe you £10 too.
Next Match is the Jim Ansty memorial on the 11th of May. With the extra guests and higher attendances I’m going to implement a booking system on the website so we have an idea of numbers well in advance and we can book the whole lake if required.
